Once such example is when an investor contacted Adept Engineering wanting a device that would attach to a wake boarding tower to reel in and store the rope. Adept designed a motorized winch with a wireless remote housed in a stylish enclosure, allowing the user to easily mount it to the tower and reel in rope to any desired length via the remote control. The two-rope retriever holds up to 75 feet of rope within the unit and unloads at 300 feet per minute. Adept built three operational prototypes for the investor’s demonstrations in the United States and overseas.
The design required, among other things:

- Water resistant IP65 electronics enclosure
- Solid state electronics
